STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT - March 2, 2001
Crane Co. (NYSE:CR) announced the formation of a new operating group, Crane Merchandising Systems.
"We can provide our customers with a complete turnkey business solution, from our expertise in the manufacturing of automatic merchandisers, our focus on aftermarket parts and services, and our ability to provide information and new technologies to suit their needs," said John Barsanti, President, Crane Merchandising Systems. It also supports Crane Merchandising Systems' goals of being a team-based, customer driven organization, that is flexible and innovative, creating quality products and services in order to be the global leader in the industry.
"We are in the best possible position to affect the future of vending," said Barsanti. "We can take advantage of our vast experience in the industry while utilizing our strengths in technology. We will continue to pursue our goal of being the innovative leader for market-driven products and creative solutions," stated Barsanti.
Crane Merchandising Systems is made up of the following business units:
- National Vendors - manufactures automatic merchandiser equipment, for snacks, food, hot and cold beverages; distributes through direct customer relationships.
- Streamware - provides software and market research products for vend operators and suppliers to improve their profitability.
- GPL - manufactures automatic merchandiser equipment, focused on the distributor-customer channel.
- New Market Solutions - providing new retail distribution networks for products, information and services.
"In North America, each of these brands will operate as an independent business unit, focusing on their particular customers' needs and requirements," said Barsanti.
In Europe, Crane National Vendors, UMC and Crane Stentorfield has been consolidated into one entity, Crane Merchandising Systems, and will be headquartered out of Chippenham, UK. "Our goal in Europe is to provide our customers our broad line of products within the Stentorfield and National Vendors' brands," Barsanti explained. "We see the overseas market as very important to our global success," he continued. "In Europe, our position is different, and to be successful, we need to understand the needs of this market and provide them with the products and services they require," said Barsanti.
A leader in the vending industry since first developing vending mechanisms in 1926, National Vendors was acquired by Crane Co. in 1985.
